DIRECTORATE: Social Welfare Services


Dr L.P. Mqadi - General Manager - Social Services

Purpose:
  • To ensure the provision of effective social welfare services.


Functions:
  • Ensure the rendering of social welfare services with regards to family, youth, children and social crime prevention
  • Ensure the rendering of the social welfare services in regards to women and older persons
  • Ensure the rendering of welfare planning services
  • Ensure the rendering of HIV/AIDS services
  • Ensure the provision of administrative support services to the Directorate

1.1) CHIEF DIRECTORATE: SOCIAL SERVICES
  • Purpose: To promote, facilitate and monitor the rendering of efficient social welfare services


FUNCTIONS:
  • Ensure the provision of effective social welfare services
  • Ensure the provision of effective social development programmes
  • Facilitate and support provisional population policy implementation


1.2) DIRECTORATE: SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT
  • Purpose: To ensure the provision of effective social development programmes.


FUNCTIONS:
  • Promote, facilitate and monitor community development programmes
  • Co-ordinate and monitor partnerships and liasion projects


1.3) DIRECTORATE: PROVINCIAL POPULATION UNIT
  • Purpose: To facilitate and support provincial population policy implementation


FUNCTIONS:
  • Promote population-related research, policy development and planning
  • Advocate and strengthen intersectoral development and Human Resource Development
  • Analyse and interpret population and development inter-relationships, monitor national policy implementation and evaluate population strategies and programmes
